ABOUT YOGA CLASSES

Urban Yoga is proud to be unconventional. We do not practice a distinct lineage of yoga or speak the traditional Sanskrit names for the poses. Urban Yoga is a 21st century yoga practice adapted to distil wellness of the mind. The Urban Yoga style is fluid and could be compared to a Vinyasa-fused practice. We combine yoga poses into a multi-sensory experience, making our style unique!

All our regular classes are 60mins. The length of our events and workshops can vary so please see specific event info for details.

Yeah, we reckon you’ll love it! Urban Yoga distils all the good parts of a standard yoga practice and packages it in a totally fresh environment. We use awesome soundtracks and visuals, and although our style is unconventional we really dig it and think that you will too.

URBAN BASE – If you like a slower flow, you’re new to yoga, or a bit rusty then our Urban Base classes are for you. Urban Base allows you to connect with the mat and get to grips with what yoga is all about. Many of our clients love Base classes for life, enjoying the slower pace and rhythm of it all.

URBAN FLOW – A faster paced yoga practice, Urban Flow is our signature class and is choreographed to be dynamic and challenging. Crafted for those with pre-existing yoga experience, you can let your mind check out and connect your body to the mat. Strengthen your core and increase flexibility with each session.

URBAN STRETCH – Super chill, with slow poses and longer holds. This is our version of Yin. Slow pace, low intensity yoga for flexibility. This restorative yoga style is great for everyone including athletes, helping to rebuild damaged tissue and improve overall body health.

URBAN INTRO – Still incorporating our signature music and visuals, this is an instructional Intro to Yoga class for those totally new or looking for more guidance. Yoga from the ground up…‘What is this yoga you speak of?’

URBAN WARRIOR – Just for the guys, it incorporates the audio-visual experience of our other classes with moves targeted specifically at areas problematic for guys. Urban Warrior will help improve your flexibility and core strength without having to whip out your downward dog in front of the girls.

URBAN OFFBEAT – Urban is famous for these.. Mix it up at our events! Live DJs, acoustic guitars, themed playlists, outdoor sites, and yoga. Check in with our Front of House team and hit up our events page for more info.

URBAN WORKSHOP – Hone your skills in our regular workshops. Our instructors will show you the ropes.

All sessions play our signature tunes and use our wicked visuals to make sure your session is fully immersive.

Sure. You can run with Urban Base for as many weeks as you like. Don’t sweat the fact that it’s a six week program, you can join anywhere in the cycle and stay with it for as many weeks as you like.

Nope. Each week includes a different ‘highlight’ aspect to break down some of the poses in depth and take time to coach and explain them. Urban Base is set up so at the end of six weeks you’ve got the main poses covered and if you’re new to yoga we recommend taking all six classes, but you’re free to move to our open Urban Flow class whenever you feel ready.

Of course! We mix in new tracks and visuals to keep your practice fresh.

BOOKING & BUYING

We know how much everyone loves their spot in the class but hates having to arrive 30 minutes early just to make sure you get it! So we have custom built an app (download here) that enables you to book your fav mat location and never be disappointed. Just one of the ways we want you guys to rock your class.

  • You can sign up online or via our Urban Yoga app (download here) and choose from a single visit (your first one is always free) or multi-class pack before booking your mat in class.You can book into class up to three weeks in advance, and if you use our app, even select your specific mat location. Chill knowing your yoga experience is locked in and there is no need to turn up super early to nab the best spot.
  • No need to lug an awkward and inconvenient yoga mat with you. Urban Yoga provides super clean, quality Manduka yoga mats already laid out in class. If you prefer to use your own equipment, not a problem, just lay it on top and reserve your spot either way.
  • Please be sure to check in using the Urban Yoga app, in-studio iPads or by chatting to any of our friendly Front of House team. Check in at least five minutes before your class begins (although we recommend 10 minutes to avoid rushing).
  • For fully booked classes we will start to allocate mats to walk-ins at the five minute mark so you risk losing your mat if you have not checked in. Please take advantage of the Urban Yoga app, or call us if you are running late.

After your class is finished feel free to hang out for a bit and enjoy tea with your instructors and Urban Yoga crew!

For sure, you should definitely book.

We want your total Urban Yoga experience to be as chilled as your time on the mat and we believe that starts before you step into the studio. We have streamlined our registration to make it as seamless as possible – just follow these easy steps:

  • Get started by registering online or via our Urban Yoga app (download here) and choose from a single visit (your first one is always free) or multi-class pack before booking your mat in class.
  • You can book into class up to three weeks in advance, and if you use our app, even select your specific mat location. Chill knowing your yoga experience is locked in and there is no need to turn up super early to nab the best spot.

Anytime at all, up to three weeks in advance. Simply hit up the booking page, or better yet us our app (download here) and choose your exact mat location. Urban Yoga is perfect if you have a busy life or a packed diary. We will help you make sure your yoga time is blocked out well in advance.

Bummer! You will still pay for the class. If you know in advance you will not be able to attend, please log into your account online or via our app and cancel your booking.

Simply cancel your booking 12 hours before the session start time and your class will be returned to your account. You can do this via our website or the Urban Yoga app. If you cancel with less than 12 hours notice you will pay for the class however we encourage you to still cancel so we can make the space available for someone else (good karma!).

If a class is already full when you go to book your mat you can choose to ‘waitlist’ (unless the waitlist is also full!).

When someone cancels, and your number is up on the waitlist, you will be automatically added to the class and we will let you know via text message. You will be prompted to respond “N” to the text message if you don’t want to take up the spot. Please be aware, our normal cancellation periods apply so it’s best to make sure you are only waitlisted for classes you know you will be able to attend (especially 12 hours beforehand).

The waitlist process halts five hours before the class time to avoid allocating mats you don’t have time to take advantage of. At this point any free mats can be filled by walk-ins.

You can easily remove yourself from a waitlist by logging into your, finding the class in your schedule and selecting remove.

We have single class and pack options:

  • First class: FREE
  • Drop in: $30, expires one month from date of purchase
  • 10 Classes: $249 ($24.90/class), expires 6 months from date of first use
  • 30 Classes: $599 ($19.95/class), expires 12 months from date of first use

We currently have Foundation Memberships available. These are limited and only available in studio – please email us if you are keen to know more

  • No lock in contract

You can book a mat as soon as you have paid for your series. The expiry term will be from the date you book your first session (not from date of purchase). Please note, drop ins and first classes are the exception to this, they will expire one month after purchase.

At Urban Yoga it is our mission to connect people to the mat. We aim to instruct and involve! No fear, no judgement.

When you rock up to Urban Yoga, you’ll notice how it sounds, looks and feels better. With instructors to welcome, guide and adjust you during class you will learn safely and quickly.

You’ll be amazed at how fast your body begins to change, your core becomes stronger and your muscles become more flexible.

YES! Urban Yoga is a physical workout and will feel much like a calisthenics workout aimed at flexibility. Like we say, we are unconventional and that’s why we are suited to guys who might be new to yoga and want the workout without all the rest of it. Come along to our Urban Base classes and we will help get you up to speed in no time. Urban Warrior classes are just for the guys and incorporate all the same audio-visual imagery as our other classes. These classes will help improve your flexibility and core strength without having to whip out your downward dog in front of the girls.

Come wearing whatever you feel comfortable in as long as it leaves you free to bend, stretch and fold during the class, which is much less scary than it sounds! Bring water and a towel with you. Urban Yoga can be physical and you’ll be sweating before you’re done. High quality Manduka yoga mats are provided for you and will be laid out ready when you rock up. If you prefer to use your own equipment, not a problem, just lay it on top and reserve your spot either way.

40 is our limit. Our yoga space comfortably holds 40 mats and they are already laid out, so you can rest assured there will be no overcrowding.

Urban Yoga doesn’t offer ‘hot yoga’ and maintains a comfortable temperature, reducing humidity and allowing your core temperature to do the rest.

Yes, there is metered street parking on Baptist and Crown streets and free parking in the Coles car park across the road.

We have bottled water for sale and donate all proceeds to The Human Kind Project.

Yeah, we also have lockers for storage.

Absolutely, yoga can be very beneficial during pregnancy. However, we recommend you consult with your doctor first and tell our Front of House team and your instructor before the class starts.

Absolutely! We invite children aged 12 or over to attend with a parent or guardian. Children aged 16 or over are welcome to attend solo.

You can return unworn, unused items with tags attached within seven days of purchase.
